Guidance Software intros EnCase Cybersecurity forensics software

The forensics software is designed for information security, network defence and incident response teams who are tasked with protecting sensitive or confidential information, and identifying, as well as responding, to network threats.

The s forensics oftware is billed as complementing existing investigative IT security tools that aim to block or quarantine data - such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, antivirus, or data loss prevention tools - or that trigger or correlate alerts, such as intrusion detection systems, configuration management, or security information management (SIM) and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.

Announcing the release of EnCase Cybersecurity forensics software, Victor Limonelli, Guidance Software's president, said that, since the firm previewed the forensics software package at its annual conference in May, public and private sector customers have expressed great interest in its capabilities.

In use, the company claims the data forensics software has the ability to identify and analyse undiscovered threats - such as polymorphic or metamorphic malware, packed files - and other advanced hacking techniques that evade traditional network- or host-based defences.

EnCase Cybersecurity also has the ability to support mitigation tasks by wiping sensitive or confidential data from unauthorised locations, and removing malware and malware artefacts from hard drives, memory and the Windows Registry on laptops, desktops, and servers.
