(ISC)² elects European security executives as board officers

According to the not-for-profit IT security association, this is the first time this has happened since (ISC)² was established back in 1989 and is indicative of the fact that the association's membership now spans 135 countries.

The association says that its 2011 board election – which was open to the global membership of more than 75,000 certified information security professionals – resulted in the election of two prominent European executives to three-year terms.

The two executives are Alessandro Moretti (Switzerland), executive director with UBS and head of the bank's risk central services; and Richard Nealon (Ireland), information security assurance reporting manager at Allied Irish Bank.

The two new appointees join fellow European Flemming Faber (Denmark) of Danish GovCert, who is in the middle of a three-year term, as well as Diana-Lynn Contesti (Canada), who will continue serving as chairperson.

According to Ms Contesti, from the outset, the association has committed to serving the global information security community and its stakeholders.

"Our organisation's strength comes from the diversity - both in expertise and geography - of our membership, and I'm pleased to see that diversity reflected on the board", she said.

"I am confident that the current group is in the best position ever to advance the profession and address the concerns of our members through global outreach and representation", she added.
