(ISC)2 has joined the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT) as a fellow.

ICIT is a non-partisan think-tank based in Washington, D.C. that acts as a conduit between the legislative community, technology providers and federal agencies.

“(ISC)2’s global membership provides a unique and broad perspective on legislative issues related to protecting critical infrastructure,” said Dan Waddell, managing director for the National Capital Region and director of US government affairs for (ISC)2, in a statement. “Our goal in becoming an ICIT Fellow is to further support and encourage the legislative community in their efforts to build the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.”

As a new fellow, (ISC)2 contributed to the latest briefing to members of the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus and a member of Senate on H.R. 3696: the National Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection Act, providing advisement on additional structures related to information sharing and security.

(ISC)2 encouraged government to make cybersecurity a more robust part of every curriculum dealing with information systems and to reinforce its commitment to cybersecurity education through additional grant funding/scholarship programs for those areas of focus.

"As a global leader in vendor-neutral cybersecurity education services and security certifications, we are proud to welcome (ISC)2 and its director of US government affairs Dan Waddell, as an ICIT fellow,” said Parham Eftekhari, senior fellow and co-founder, ICIT. “(ISC)2's deep understanding of the security community's challenges, vendor landscape and security trends will add tremendous depth to our legislative briefings and bring unique perspective as we support federal cybersecurity and technology policy for critical infrastructure sectors both domestically and abroad."
