Twitter’s Facebook app difficulties down to Facebook, says Twitter

24 June 2010

An update to Twitter's Facebook app, which allows users to "follow" their Facebook friends, appears to have failed due to problems with Facebook.

Writing on the Twitter blog, Josh Elman, a Twitter product manager, said, "The Facebook app cannot currently access your Facebook friend list. We believe this is an issue on Facebook's end."

The application was designed to show which of a user's Facebook friends are on Twitter. The user can then follow them directly and save them to a list. It also lets users post their Tweets to their Facebook profile page.

Twitter has also developed a similar Tweets application for LinkedIn, which has not experienced any problems yet.

This enables users to check if their LinkedIn connections are on Twitter and follow the ones they choose right from the app, which also lets users save their LinkedIn connections as a list, post Tweets to LinkedIn, and add their Twitter account to their LinkedIn profile.
