ScanSafe lands SaaS cloud deal with Orange

Financial terms of the deal have not been revealed, but it calls on ScanSafe to provide IT security services to Orange's high-level business customers in the 39 territories around the world it has a presence in.

Orange Business Services offers a range of internet and fixed/mobile communication services to major corporates. The division of Orange is one of the few that offers integrated communications security wholly in the cloud on a multi-national basis.

According to Orange, its new ScanSafe driven SaaS facilities are true cloud computing in nature, as they require no hardware, upfront capital costs or maintenance and provide real-time threat protection with zero latency.

As a result, the company said its SaaS cloud services can help to reduce bandwidth consumption and offer a lower total cost of ownership than traditional hardware or software-based security systems.

In addition, added Orange, by removing the burden of maintenance and systematic updating, the solution frees internal IT resources, allowing them to focus on projects directly related to an organisation's core competency.

Elder Tuvey, ScanSafe's CEO, said: "The (corporate) channel has always been a strong component of our business and this new distribution agreement will accelerate our continued growth into the enterprise space".

"Security is an increasingly critical issue and delivering web security as a SaaS service ensures that Orange customers are protected from the growing number of web threats at an affordable and predictable cost."

The deal with Orange follows on from a similar contract with Vistorm, part of the EDS group, in June of this year.

That deal allows Vistorm to offer ScanSafe's IT security services to its customers on a global basis.
