Ipswitch offers free networking testing software

The new software is billed as helping IT staff monitor, diagnose and troubleshoot a vast majority of common network engineering tasks including issues such as design and planning; discovery; diagnostics; DNS verification; remote control; and configuration and credentials management.

According to an Ipswitch company spokesperson, the free download option will last a short time, after which users will be expected to pay for the download.

"It's simply designed to promote the company and, of course, the network diagnostic software", the spokesperson told Infosecurity.

Ipswitch says that WhatsUp Gold Engineer's Toolkit features a single installation and user-friendly interface, and is the only toolkit that addresses this broad range of categories from a single-credential library, allowing users to access any tool without having to re-enter credentials.

The toolkit also has exportable, printable and shareable reporting results to simplify troubleshooting and share with upper management and to report on activities and status.

Brian Gollaher, director of product management with Ipswitch's network management division, said that network network managers "will be impressed with the toolkit’s user-friendly interface and its ability to ease the burden of daily network and system administration tasks."
