HP completes acquisition of Fortify Software

The acquisition, announced in August, is part of HP's strategy to strengthen its application security portfolio.

A number of enterprise software and services suppliers are beefing up their security components as security increasingly becomes an important element in buying decisions.

HP claims the acquisition will help the company address application security from development through to operations.

The acquisition will enable a comprehensive security capability for securing mission-critical applications in heterogeneous environments, the company said.

Fortify will initially run as a standalone company and eventually become part of HP's business optimisation application portfolio.

HP said plans for product integration will be announced in greater detail at a later date.
