Multi-topology Apple OSX VPN software unveiled

According to the Nuremburg-based company, its VPN client for Mac OS X works across a variety of network connections, including Bluetooth and even Apple iPhone 3G tethered links, and the software is available for a 30 day free trial.

In use, the software supports the import of third-party configuration files, as well as including a dynamic and integrated firewall.

The software also supports a fallback IPsec feature set, allowing it to use HTTPS connections using a VPN path finding approach to looking for backup connections automatically, in the event of a primary link failure.

The software features FIPS 140-2 compliant cryptography that the company claims will even work from behind a firewall.

Despite the technical complexity of the software, NCP Engineering says that the client is simple to install and use, and "provides users with a graphical, intuitive user interface that provides information on all connection and security states."

A detailed audit log facility is supplied as standard and a configuration wizard completes the feature set.
